International law firm Pinsent Masons has today
announced the promotion of Matthew de Ferrars to partner in the
firm’s Pensions Group.
Based in its London office, de Ferrars has more than ten years
experience with Pinsent Masons, advising employers and trustees on
all aspects of pensions law.
As a long-standing adviser to some of the Group's major trustee
clients, he recently took a lead role in the three Babcock
International Group longevity swap transactions. Matthew is a
committee member for both the Society of Pension Consultants and
the Pensions Management Institute, and in addition edits the
Palgrave Macmillan Journal: Pensions: An International
Journal.
Commenting on his new role, de Ferrars said: "Against a backdrop
of ever increasing complexity in pensions law, both trustees and
employers need clear, commercial legal advice which enables them to
feel confident that they are making the right decision. At Pinsent
Masons we are focused on making pensions decisions easier for our
clients."
Alastair Meeks, National Head of Pensions at Pinsent Masons,
added: "Matthew's promotion is well deserved. It comes at a time
when our pensions group is expanding and very busy, not least in
handling a number of high profile, insolvency related cases.
Matthew's expertise in the areas of de-risking pension liabilities
and international pensions makes his appointment particularly
opportune for us."
de Ferrars joined Pinsent Masons after
studying History at Bristol University. He has specialist pensions
investment and de-risking experience, has a particular focus on
international pensions and advises on pensions solutions for
internationally mobile employees.
The promotion of de Ferrars' takes the total
number of partners in the Pinsent Masons Pensions Group to 17. The
Group is one of the UK's largest and strongest pensions law teams,
comprising almost 60 pensions professionals in total.
